Spend Sunday with us in York: NinetyOne at Bishy Road Bazaar

There are few things we love more than a summer weekend in York, especially when we get to spend it surrounded by brilliant independent businesses, makers and creatives.

So, this Sunday 23rd August, we’re very excited to be joining the Bishy Road Bazaar on Bishopthorpe Road, from 11am–3pm, alongside more than 40 local makers and creatives for the final Bazaar of the year.

And we’re bringing something a little different with us this time…

Introducing the NinetyOne OUTLET

For the first time, we’ll be bringing our NinetyOne OUTLET collection along to Bishy Road.

Our Outlet is a bit like opening the doors to our jewellery studio and letting you discover all the pieces that don’t usually make it onto the website.

Think one-off designs, experimental pieces, trial colourways, unusual shapes, samples and tiny runs – alongside combinations we’ve played around with while developing our collections.

Some were ideas we loved but never produced as part of a full collection. Some use colours or components we only had a handful of. Others are completely unique.

And once they’re gone, they really are gone.

We love the idea of these pieces finding a home rather than sitting tucked away in our studio, and Bishy Road felt like exactly the right place to share them for the first time.

If you like finding something that nobody else has, come and have a rummage.

Make a Sunday of it on Bishy Road.

If you’ve never spent a slow Sunday around Bishopthorpe Road, this is a particularly lovely weekend to do it.

Start with coffee or brunch at one of the brilliant independent cafés along the road, wander through the Bazaar between 11am and 3pm, browse the shops, pick up something delicious for later and, of course, come and say hello to us at the NinetyOne stand.

Bishopthorpe Road has such a strong independent spirit, which is one of the reasons we’re so happy to be part of the day. It’s the kind of place where you can quite easily arrive intending to stay for half an hour and find yourself still there a few hours later.

And if the weather behaves, it’s the perfect excuse for a Sunday wander afterwards, grab something to take away, head towards the river or Rowntrees park, or simply carry on into York and enjoy one of those long late-summer afternoons in the city.

A whole weekend in York

There’s plenty happening elsewhere in York too if you want to turn it into a full weekend.

Saturday is the final day of the Sky Bet Ebor Festival at York Racecourse, bringing one of the biggest weeks in York’s calendar to a close.

Or, for something completely different, TOYS 📸 YORK is taking place at Patch York on Saturday afternoon, exhibiting cinematic toy photography – including images shot around York itself.

Then on Sunday, we’d recommend slowing things down and heading over to Bishy Road to see us.

There’s something special about doing events at home

As a small independent business, markets and pop-ups are one of our favourite parts of NinetyOne.

Our jewellery might travel all over the UK, but there’s something particularly special about getting to bring NinetyOne back to one of our home cities, York.

Where so many of our ideas begin; and where we’re lucky enough to have an incredibly supportive community of customers around us.

Getting to meet people in person, help you try different combinations, talk through how we make things and see which pieces you naturally gravitate towards is something you just can’t recreate online.

And this weekend, you’ll also get first pick of all those unique, wonderful and completely one-off Outlet pieces we’ve been hiding away…
