From Kitchen Table to John Lewis: Join Us in Newcastle This June
We still can’t quite believe we’re writing this…
Just six months after officially launching NinetyOne Jewellery online, we’ve been selected to host a week-long pop-up at John Lewis Newcastle from 1st–7th June.
What started at our kitchen table in North Yorkshire has quickly grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined, and we honestly couldn’t be more excited to finally bring NinetyOne to life in person.
Over the past few weeks, our story has been featured across regional publications including The Newcastle Chronicle, The York Press, Yorkshire Times, The Northern Echo, YorkMix, Handpicked Local and The Gazette & Herald.
All sharing the journey of how a mother and daughter went from making jewellery together at home to launching in one of the UK’s best-known retailers.
But beyond the headlines, this pop-up means so much more to us.
NinetyOne was built from a desire to create life differently.
After years spent commuting between York and London working in corporate marketing and sustainability roles, I (Emma) reached a point where I knew I wanted something more creative, personal and meaningful. At the same time, my mum Karen had recently left nursing in her 60s, and together we decided to take a leap and build something of our own.
Jewellery-making had always been part of our relationship. We used to make pieces together when I was younger, never imagining that years later we’d be building a business around it.
Now, every NinetyOne piece is still handmade in small batches from our North Yorkshire studio, designed around wearable seasonal colours, timeless styling and helping women feel more confident and like themselves.

Starting this business reminded us that it’s never too late to change direction, try something new or build life on your own terms. Seeing so many people connect with that message over the past few weeks has honestly meant the world.
The support from Yorkshire and the North East has been incredible, from the local business community in York and North Yorkshire to everyone who has shared our story, sent kind messages or supported the business so far.
And this really does still feel like just the beginning.
